About 30km before Ouarzazate, on a 10km minor road, is the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. A UNESCO World Heritage Listed site, this fortified village is one of the most remarkable and popular places to visit in all of Morocco. Partially restored, the beauty of this fortress inspires many of its visitors. The site is quite famous and has been used for locations in films such as: Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, and the television series Game of Thrones. Rising to the south is majestic Ouarzazate, offering a mixture of oasis', Kasbahs, and flourishing valleys. For a wonderful day of stunning mountain scenery, and Moroccan history, a day trip to Ait Ben Haddou and the nearby city of Ouarzazate makes for the perfect excursion.

Your journey begins in the morning where we depart Marrakech and head for the High Atlas Mountains. Take in the breathtaking natural beauty of this mountain range as we travel through the mountains and valleys, and catch glimpses of the life of the people who live here. Your first main destination is the historical city of Ait Ben Haddou. With much of the city dating from the 17th century this ksar, or fortified city, rising up the hillside, is a wonder to behold. A guided walk through this UNESCO World Heritage site leads you through it's winding streets up to the hill's summit, pointing out historical points of interest as well as the locations for many Hollywood movies that have been filmed here. 

Then it is on to nearby Ouarzazate, for lunch and to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and one of the most beautiful kasbahs in Morocco. This tranquil city also has beautiful, cool, oasis’ of palms, where one can relax from the heat of the day. Ouarzazate is also the Hollywood of Morocco, with two large film studios that you will have the time to briefly visit. After a full day you return back to Marrakech to enjoy the excitement of this fine city at night.
